Simon Says "Don't do What I Do"

Well, on average now, we have gas at $2.98 up here. Yes, it's down, but I'm still not planning any long road trips And a while ago, I wrote about the Hybrid hypocrisy that was displayed in DC but some members of Congress.

But I really didn't believe this when I heard it was going to happen. I can think of a several much better ways of showing the damage of this administration's energy bill. But then, this is yet another bad-parenting lesson of "do what I say, not what I do."

Today's lesson is:

When gas prices are through the roof... when oil companies are making record profits... when students are needing to drop out of college because of the cost of transportation... when dependence on foreign oil has become an addiction...

What you do as an elected official and candidate is get in a 1972 Cadillac which gets an average 11mpg and drive about 100 miles with a few stops to talk about how bad the gas situation is.

I gotta wonder... did Ray Meier leave the caddy idling while he held the press conferences or did he turn the engine off during stops? And at 11 mpg (that's MILES PER GALLON... 11 of them), did it really make a difference?

I've been traveling some with Michael Arcuri as he speaks throughout the 24th CD.

It was just a little over 100 miles from Utica to Geneva.

We head to Binghamton tomorrow morning, about 90 miles away.

If we started in northern Herkimer County, went to Binghamton, then on to Geneva, we'd cover about 300 miles.

Obviously, driving a car that gets 11 miles to the gallon these days is either foolish or greedy, at best. Thank you for showing us what not to do. I suppose it could be called leading by example, but only if we're supposed to do opposite of what the so-called leader chooses.

You said it the way I was thinking it. I've been trying to figure out how to blog this man Meier's "idea". All I could think of was he wants everybody to know that no matter how bad it gets for everybody else, HE can afford all the gas he needs. I thought that whomever gave him this idea cannot possibly be on his side. But it's all really no surprise. He operates like he is above everybody else anyways. His entire "plan" is a basic "screw you folks for now". Anybody can talk long range, they don't even have to mean it. In the meantime, what has he done as our SENATOR to ease gas prices for the here and now? What has he done about the outrageous gas taxes in New York? Nothing. For ten years, that has been his hallmark. The hallmark of nothingness. He should have painted "Hooray for me, To Hell With You" on that car.

Yougomike, you're right, I hadn't considered that aspect of his drive. And he's the only one in the race who can attempt to do something about the NYS gas tax... was there any news I missed?

As for Mike's car... I had one and it was by far the best car I owned with mileage I could happily afford and condition, maintenance and service that I still miss. God, I miss that car.
